Captain Jesus Ramirez grew up on the East Side in Salinas and graduated from Alisal High School in 2007. He proudly served in the Marine Corps as a Mortarman and worked up the ranks to Sergeant and Mortar Leader. He was honorably discharged as a Sergeant upon completion of his contract. Upon his return to Salinas, Captain Ramirez explored the prospect of joining the fire service and began the pursuit of this profession. He was selected and hired by his hometown department, Salinas, in October 2014. In ten years, Jesus has become a Paramedic through the AFG Grant program, a HazMat Specialist, promoted to the rank of Fire Captain, is the Team Leader for the department Honor Guard, became the lead for our Hose Cadre, and is an Executive Board member for Salinas Firefighters Local 1270. Captain Ramirez is passionate about giving back to the community he was raised in and wants to see more local Salinas youth aspire and accomplish their dreams of becoming a firefighter. He has a wife and two kids and lives in the community.
